Dame Kelly Holmes
Dame Kelly Holmes won gold medals for Britain in the 800 and 1500 metre races at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and she still holds the record over the 600, 800, 1000, and 1500 metres distances. But success in athletics was not an easy journey for Kelly. Dogged by injury which led to depression Kelly battled back to achieve her ultimate goal of becoming a gold medal winner.
In this interview Dame Kelly talks about joining the British Army at the age of 18, having left school two years earlier after finding it horrendous and how this career route took her back to a passion for athletics. She also talks about the importance of having a ‘team’ around you, friends and family and mentors who can help guide you in life.

Hi
Have just watched the interview with Dame Kelly and thought it was really good.Impreseesd with the way she looked at positives that had been achieved in chunks rather than a bigger picture that can become cluttered and distorted and how to source your “Team You” was an excellent idea.
I willl be using some of her methods on my clients to dig for information that will help their job search/CV/interview techniques and to help raise the confidence and motivation of the longer term unemployed.
Really good stuff!!!
